As the calendar turns from December to January, it is natural to look back at the previous year and look forward to the new one. Not so much. Your natural strengths are your habitual patterns of behavior, thoughts, emotions, and communication. They are God-given. Further, your natural strengths typically remain stable over time. If you are a naturally courageous, determined problem-solver, you will likely continue to solve problems in that way throughout your life.

As we study these three celebrations, we can learn much about preparing for our new year as well. This includes putting past failures behind us and looking forward to a new set of opportunities and responsibilities and victories in our service to Him. In other words, it was a time set aside for coming to the Lord in humility asking for forgiveness for sins and a renewal of dedication for His service, putting Him first in their lives. This was perhaps the most important observance for the Jewish celebrations. If anyone refused to observe this Day of Atonement they were to be cut off from the people, alienated from all areas of worship and service.
The Joy of New Beginnings
As you walk into the doors of your school remember the words of God to you, "'Never will I leave you never will I forsake you. What can mere mortals do to me? Don't be afraid of being beat up by bullies or criticized by cliques.
